The X Factor Winner Melanie Amaro, “I’ve matured”

Melanie Amaro was voted the winner of The X Factor on Thursday after beating out finalists Josh Krajcik and Chris Rene to win a $5 million Sony recording contract. Although Melanie Amaro was a front-runner to win The X Factor all season, Amaro was previously cut by mentor Simon Cowell prior to the start of competition.
After admitting his mistake to fellow X Factor judges L.A. Reid, Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, Simon Cowell traveled to the South Florida home of Melanie Amaro to bring her back into The X Factor. As a result, Melanie’s return to The X Factor was the open door she needed to show the world her true potential as a singer. And show the world Amaro did on Thursday night when fans of The X Factor voted Melanie the winner.
So, how does Melanie Amaro feel she’s grown as compared to the person she was when Simon brought her back to The X Factor?
“I’ve grown not only as a person but also as an artist,” Melanie told The Deadbolt the day after winning The X Factor.

“I’ve matured and I’ve really stepped into my own. I’m growing and learning so much from the industry. From me being in the competition, I learned a lot and I’m growing. I’m really happy about everything, the opportunities that have happened in my life thus far, and I’m happy about the changes.”

Compared to such vocal greats as Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, Melanie Amaro proved to America and the world that she deserves to be among the elite R&B power singers. However, throughout the season of The X Factor, judge L.A. Reid often urged Melanie to go beyond her comfort zone of the epic ballads despite the advice of Simon Cowell, her mentor.
How did Melanie view L.A.’s feedback as compared to Simon’s each week? For Amaro, it was all in trying to learn from both music industry heavyweights.
“I used both of their opinions equally,” added Amaro to The Deadbolt, who was coming off of almost thirty press appearances the same day after being up all night. “I just used whatever criticisms and opinions that were given to me, and I used them to improve my performance.”

On the road to winning The X Factor, there was a point where Melanie accepted who she was as a person, which allowed her to mature and open up more to the process of The X Factor. Interestingly, when it came to The X factor finale, Melanie Amaro admitted that it was Simon Cowell who was not only but more nervous than she was before the results were announced. “He was more nervous than I was,” Melanie explained.
As for the future beyond The X Factor, Melanie Amaro admitted that she’s love to sing with Mariah Carey one day. Now that she’s won the The X Factor, Melanie is certainly one step closer such an opportunity than she was only months ago.
